1. This is an easy, off road route, that is ideal for families (My 7 year old son can do this route without too many complaints).
Starting from Fox Covert Lane in Castlethorpe, follow the bridleway across the railway bridge and then turn left. The path follows the rail track South towards Wolverton.
At the bridge over the River Tove, turn right. The path takes you towards the Grand Union canal, along the side of the Cosgrove Leisure Park.
Some steps take you up onto the Wolverton Aqueduct, or the "Iron Trunk" on the Grand Union Canal, where you turn right and follow the canal towpath towards Cosgrove.
The towpath takes you over a bridge on Main Street, Cosgrove, and onto the left side of the canal to continue the journey to the next bridge at The Navigation Inn pub.
Here, you take the road back into Castlethorpe, over the railway bridge, through the village and back to the start point. |
