1. Join the Walsall canal from Baileys lane Tipton and within a hundred yards join the Tame Valley canal.
Stay on the Tame Valley for approx 4.5 miles then turn left onto the Rushall Canal. Here you'll encounter the only locks on the entire route that you need to go up, there are 6 of them in total.
Stay on this canal for approx 8 miles until you come to Catshill Jcn in Brownhills. Here turn left for Wolverhampton and travel for approx 7.5 miles where you will turn left for Walsall.
Here you will descend 8 locks onto the Walsall canal where you need tpo turn right heading back towards West Bromwich/Tipton. Its about 6 miles back to Baileys lane Tipton.
The route is mainly good towpaths but there are some rutted and slower sections and in Pelsall you're just riding on grass.
According to my cycle computer the route is nearly 28 miles and it took me 2hr 42mins going steady. |
