1. The route uses mostly lanes to travel northwest across Kent. There are excellent views from the edge of Romney Marsh, the sandstone ridge between Pluckley and Maidstone (the old Coach road).
Mote Park - stop for lunch, and then on through Maidstone straight to Borstal - this route avoids the steep climb on the Sustrans route, thence to Rochester and round to Gravesend.
There is a cafe on the front. Historically, Cinque port pilots would board ships to London from the Pub of the same name, near the start of this route and London Pilots would take ships down the kent coast.
By agreement, they could only take the ships in one direction - this could be a route home for them. |
