| 1. Join the Walsall canal @ Moorsmill Lane heading in the direction of Great Bridge. Follow this canal onto the BCN mainline and head towards B'ham. This route includes riding the Soho loop but this is optional. When you get into B'ham proceed with caution through the locks there are 13 of them initially followed by another 8 before you get to Spaghetti junction where you should turn left onto the Tame valley canal. Theere are a few locks to climb along here and care is needed when riding as the concrete channels in the towpath can throw you around. When you get to the junction with the Rushall canal you need to cross the canal and join it. There are a few locks to ascend along here. When you go under the Sutton road bridge you will see fields to your left and there are some paths through the fields that take you to Walsall Arboretum. You have to cycle right through the Arboretum towards Walsall town centre. when you are back onto Tarmac (for a very short distance) you need to head to Walsall art gallery. The Walsall canal can be located behind the art gallery. Proceed along the Walsall canal until you get to a point in Tipton, likely Baileys lane where you can get on the tarmac and head home. We did this route today and my trip computer showed 28.97 miles. | |
