1. Covering many Ayrshire villages, Tarbolton, Annbank, Coylton, Dalrymple, Crosshill, Straiton, Kirkmichael, Minishant, Culroy, Alloway and also Ayr and Prestwick. Route uses famous climbs of Glenalla and Nick of the Balloch. Not an easy route so general fitness should be established first. Ensure someone knows your route if riding alone as mobile signal not guaranteed at most southerly points. Cycling Heaven. | |

Look out for the Davie Bell Memorial at Rowantree Toll at the most southerly point of the route (just off road) which remembers Ayrshires most famous cycle tourist. Davie, who wrote in the Ayrshire Post and published a book of his cycling exploits was known as 'The Highway Man' and has a Classic race around these roads run annually in his memory. Also 'The Buck' Tea Room in Straiton where a quaint, cosy cup of tea and cake is guaranteed to fuel you to the end. |
