| 1. I was particularly nervous about cycling on main roads as I'm not a confident cyclist, however I was surprised that I preferred cycling in on Dereham Road as the bus lane means cars are no where near you so you don't feel intimidated.
The cycle to work is easier than the cycle home because of this. I also tend to leave half an hour earlier than I would if I drove (so 07.30 rather than 8.00) as it means traffic is a little less busy and the cycle in is rather enjoyable!
The cycle home is harder as the roads are much busier by the time I reach Dereham Road and there is no bus lane on the way home.
I am not particularly a 'fit' person but can do this in about 45 minutes and it actually feels a lot quicker than it looks!
When I get to Queen Street I head toward the Cathedral (cycle down passed All Bar One) and then turn immediately eight onto the cobbled back road instead of entering the Cathedral) this by passes all Prince of Wales road traffic and you come out by The Complete Angler at the bottom of the road.
Thorpe Road is a bit taxing but certainly manageable. |
