| 1. This route starts in the suburbs of romford and continues to the south of essex towards ockendon and through some very quite lanes that run between farmland and open fields.
Journey continues through the village of 'Horndon on the Hill' were there is a store to stock up on essentials for your ride.
Route then continues north through dunton and into herongate were you will find the 'Old Dog' public house which does a fantastic selection of food & drink. The lanes around here are quite narrow and busy so care has to be taken with approaching traffic. (gradients in this area are moderate).
The approach along the ingrave road towards brentwwod is quite hilly - but not completely unforgiving. Once in Brentwood town centre there is a selection of places to eat, a couple of coffee shops and two bicycle shops - namely: Cycle Life & Halfords.
From here the route takes you through south weald and runs adjacent to the magnificent 'south weald park; Close by is the village church 'St Peters' and opposite the Tower Arms public house.
When you reach the end of sandpit lane the road can be quite busy with some fast traffic so care has to be taken. Along this route (ongar road) you will find a village grocery store at the junction of church road.
A little way on from this you will also find the 'not so' Secret Nuclear Bunker in kelvdon hatch.
Once past this point you will reach Kelvdon hall lane, which has recently been 'partly' re-tarmaced and amazingly smooth and fast!
Route continues through quiet country roads of navestock were you are met by the 'White Horse' public house for perhaps the last point to have a break/refreshment.
After this there are few more miles of country lanes until you are met with a reasonably challenging hill that ends at Havering Atting Bower were there is once again ... another Pub - The Royal Oak. This pub lies alongside the village green and the beautiful village church that overlooks (on a clear day) some amazing views of London!
