Cycle Steps |
1. The route is for the most part an easy ride. The two most difficult parts are the steepest part of Tower Hill Road,UpHolland and Mill Lane from Upholland(Top of the Hill)up past the Prince William pub.
Younger riders should not experience anything untowards, but those of my age and especially with a Prosthetic Knee anda few years off the bike will find their legs a bit jelly like.
It gets easier by the journey route. I do this route on a good day in 50minutes. At 65yrs old I don't think that is a bad effort. I ride a 2000 Bianchi Gold Race 600 Reparto Corse,it weighs in at 10.5kgs + my emergency kit.
Since posting this route I have moved to Ellington,Northumberland (no it is not flat)and as yet have not done anything other than the Ellington-Lynemouth-Ellington circuit of circa 8miles out & back and Ellington-Ashington-Woodhorn-Ellington out & back circa circa 14miles.
Not bumpy, not flat just long steady gradients for old & knackered knees. |

The North Sea from the Lynemouth Coastal Route. On a wild day it will blow your bike away never mind the cobwebs.
