Cycle Steps
1. This route uses the towpath for the Forth Clyde canal, almost as far as Denny, and then mostly relatively quiet, safe country roads although the section from Denny to Stirling is a bit on the busy and fast side in terms of road traffic. I've added 'extra details' notes to the map wherever a turn or extra guidance is needed. The canal towpath is largely a good service, but there are some stretches of uneven, muddy ground, particularly after rain. I'd suggest these bits would not suit a road bike. I did the route on a lightweight cyclocross with road tyres and this suited the cycle well. There are a few climbs, but nothing too taxing. The main one is leaving the Earn valley to climb up and then over to Perth, which if, you're tired could be a bit taxing. The sections after Bridge of Allan all the way to Perth are excellent and over rolling roads with largely good surfaces and great open views.
Landmarks/Sites to see?
There are bike shops on the route in Kirkintilloch, Bridge of Allan and Auchterarder. Perth also has several.
