1. A nice morning exercise through a few villages and plenty of countryside, a few climbs but nothing too bad and finishing on a great downhill run back to the village. The A181 can be a bit busy so maybe cut through Wheatley hill/ Thornley - not tried that yet. Passing lots of fields with wind turbines, and a few old pit villages. Most roads on the route have a fairly wide shoulder and a few cycle lanes. | |

Pass peterlee aerodrome so on a nice day you can see people sky dive. Few village shops on the way for a snack or drink (shotton colliery and Wingate) |
