Cycle Steps |
1. Cross over to Mull on the ferry from Oban to Craignure. On getting off the ferry have a cup of tea for 15minutes to allow the tour busses heading for Iona to get away and head west on the A849 for the iona ferry at Fionnphort and enjoy a spectacular 37mile. Only one significant climb at 12miles but the gradient is low and should present any significant problems. Cycling the last 10miles across the Ross of Mull is wonderful with views over the treshnish islands and staffa. Tea shop at the ferry terminal for those who would prefer tea and cakes rather than the ferry ride over to Iona (quite bumpy when the sea is up). Ride back to Craignure is almost as good with views over the mountains. Road narrow but traffic light apart from the odd tour bus. |
