1. A RELATIVELY FLAT ROUTE WITH A FEW GENTLE INCLINES AND DESCENTS. THE ROUTE BEGINS WITH A MIXTURE OF ROAD AND OFF ROAD CYCLING AS YOU NEGOTIATE THE OLD NOTTINGHAM CANAL. YOU'LL BE TAKEN THROUGH THE SCENIC WOLLATON PARK AND INTO NOTTINGHAMS INNERCITY, BEFORE PICKING UP THE CITYS CANAL NETWORK AND ONTO THE RIVER TRENT. FROM HERE IT'S ONTO THE NATIONAL WATERSPORTS CENTRE AT HOLME PIERREPONT FOR A LAP OF THE ROWING LAKE BEFORE RE-JOINING THE RIVER AGAIN TO START YOUR RETURN TO TROWELL. THE REMAINDER OF THE ROUTE IS PURELY WATERSIDE RIDING, FOLLWING THE TRENT UPSTREAM TO TRENT LOCK AND LATER THE EREWASH CANAL, THROUGH LONG EATON AND SANDIACRE UNTIL YOU REACH TROWELL. |
