| 1. This route starts off with a few miles up the bypass , which is fairly boring, but then changes to quiet, scenic country lanes. The main part of the route is the old coach road. This was tarmacked around the time of the second world war and is now fairly cracked and bumpy, definitely not for road bikes! The route home along the East Lancs cycle paths is extremely fast and smooth. | |
