Cycle Steps |
1. Set off from the Mason's Arms and follow a gentle rise up through Rhiwbina. The first test comes along very quickly in the shape of Rhiwbina hill. Get those legs spinning or push a higher gear (dependant on your preference) to make your way to the top of Caerphilly mountain - then test your nerve on the quick descent. Then just follow the signs for Newport. A lovely undulating road with great scenery; it's also surprisingly quiet on a Sunday morning. Take on a Banana/Gel/Mars bar and some fluid around Bassaleg to keep you going for the slow rises back along the A48. Head back towards town but pull off Newport road toward Roath in readiness for the testing Pen-y-lan hill. Continue through Cyncoed and enjoy the nice quick descent toward Heath. One last little hill before cruising back to the Pub for a well deserved Cuppa/Pint/Sunday roast! |

Landmarks/Sites to see? |
Great views from the mountain - if you can get your eyes off the road for a second. Lovely scenery on the way to Newport. Good road surfaces.
