1. Leaving Coaltown of Balgonie, you head down the hill then up into Markinch, where you wheel your bike up the stairs (cycle rail provided) into the railway station car park. Passing the railway station onto the High Street where there is a Co-op. Onwards into Glenrothes you go down then up the steep hill at Prestonhall Drive, then it's over the flyover and along the small off-road path into the Stagecoach bus depot (you can go round on the road if you prefer). Time for a quick water break at ASDA! You will pass the new Auchmuty High School building, built in 2013. After passing St Paul's Primary School you head down the cycle path onto South Parks Road which takes you up to the new Tesco, then towards the Glenrothes Territorial Army. Most of the route from there is on the Boblingen Way cycle path. This path used to be a railway line linking the towns of Markinch, Glenrothes & Leslie. Finally you pass a BP service station at Bankhead Business Park - you can pump up your tyres here. |
