| 1. Leaving from the train station you head through the centre of dumfries before leaving the town and heading into the A710 towards southerness and mabie forest. You will soon reach the lovely village of new abbey where you could grab a lovely cuppa and bacon roll in the wee cafe. Back in the saddle you will soon clasp your eyes on the sea to your left side. A nice flat ride will take you on towards Dalbeattie quote very few hills. As you leave Dalbeattie you have a quick climb up to buittle church before entering castle Douglas (the food town) before heading back towards dumfries on the old military road which is undulating.nreturning back into the town and once again crossing the river nith before reaching the train station and a few bars close by if you need a wee refresher ! |
