1. NEWENT WELCOMES CYCLISTS Newent welcomes cyclists and is a great hub for many different routes starting and ending in the town as well as for groups riding from surrounding towns (Ledbury, Tewkesbury, Cheltenham, Gloucester) and into the Forest of Dean. Local rides range from short routes, to build confidence and fitness, to whole day excursions taking in great views, diverse places of interest, some excellent pubs and welcoming food stops. Newent Loop North (Full) Newent - Kempley - Dymock - Bromsberrow Heath - Redmarley D’Abitot - Lowbands - Hethelpit Cross - Highleadon - Newent The Newent Loop is a 28 mile on road cycling route to the north of Newent on quiet roads and lanes through the Gloucestershire countryside. There are two shorter routes of 19 miles each. All three routes are fully signed and can be combined in various ways and ridden in any direction. The routes have been assessed by the Gloucestershire Road Safety Audit Team who recommend that the routes are safer when followed in an anti-clockwise direction. The lanes are shared with other vehicles so please wear brightly coloured clothing and use your lights under murky conditions. Always wear a helmet!
