Laave Scalpay via the bridge and head for Tarbert. Once in Tarbert you may want to stop for a refreshment at the cafe next to the Hotel Hebrides. There is a bike shop at the top of the hill if you need anything and also the most old fashioned hardware shop you will ever see.Get back on the bike and cycle past the ferry terminal and to the junction ,turn left up hill towards Rhodel.Follow this road for about 10 miles till you see the beaches in front of you. At the foot of the hill take the road to the right marked Luskentyre. Cycle all the way to the end past two cemeteries and leave your bikes next to the toilet block.( Don't worry they will be safe this is Harris after all) Walk through the gate and across the sand dunes and prepare to be amazed by the most spectacular beach in the world. When your ready take the reverse route home or if you are really fit head towards Rhodel and return via the golden road. | |
