Joining the Basingstoke Canel at St Johns follow the canel to the aquaduct over the A331 just beyond Ash. Leave the canel and join the Blackwater Valley path running south. Follow this, crossing the Ash Rd, and continue until you reach the cemetry on your right. At this point there is a path onyour left which takes you to the roundabout at the junction of the A331 and A31. Cross the A331 and enter Grange Rd. This is part of the sign posted Christmas Pie trial from Farnham to Guildford. Follow CP to the outskirts of Guildford and then follow Ryder's Hill past Chitty's Common and briefly onto the A322 cutting the corner to cross Salt Box Rd and enter Whitmoor Common. Follow the main paths north easterly across the common until you reach the car park next to the pub on the Burdenshott Rd. Follow this Rd north turning L into Smart's Heath Ln and then almost immediately into Kemishford Ln. At the end of this enter the common and follow the path north, eventually rejoining Smart's Heath Rd. Turn L into Saunders Ln and then R into Hook Heath Rd. Climb the hill and at the top turn L on to the food path just past deVere's. The path runs straight, crossing the golf course at various points before bring you out at Pond Rd. Turn L, and follow to the entrance to the Golf Club. At the gates turn R along the foot path which takes you to a bridge over the railway and onto the green at St Johns. |
