The route is a 21 mile long "greenway" encircling the city of Preston. It is urban in parts but also passes through some beautiful countryside. It has a total accent of 263 ft and a total elevation of 207ft. So mainly flat. It is suitable for mountain, hybrid and possibly road bikes. It is route 622 of the national cycle routes and therefore is very well sign posted all the way around. The route passes sights such as Preston Docklands, Avenham and Miller Parks and Brockholes Nature Reserve. The route follows mainly the River Ribble to the south, and goes as far as Broughton in the north. |
