| This is a road route, mainly on B and country roads, that is quite flat until you get out into the Cotsworlds. Once you cross the A419, around Latton, you start hitting minor hills, even so, this route is very good for beginners. The route starts by following Haydon End Lane and Queen Elizabeth Drive around to the Thamesdown Drive Junction. Turn right onto Thamesdown Drive and follow this round to the next major junction. Turn left and then right at the roundabout onto Garsington Drive. Follow this to the next roundabout and turn left onto Oakhurst Way. Follow Oakhurst Way across the next roundabout, then around sharply to the right and up to the next roundabout. Turn left onto Tadpole Lane and follow this over the railway tracks and on till the B4553 junction. Do not go onto the B4553, but take the country road to the right. Take the second turn off on the left and on till the B4553 junction (should you miss this turn you will still end up at a junction on the B4553 only closer to Cricklade). At either junction you will need to turn left onto the B4553 and take the first right off it again. Follow this road across a crossroads and on till the B4040 crossroads. Turn left onto the B4040 and follow this through Leigh and on till the B4696 crossroads. Follow the B4696 past Ashton Keynes and sharp right at the crossroads, where it becomes Spine Road East. Follow the B4696 across the first crossroads and on till the second. Turn right at the crossroads onto Cerney Wick Lane and follow this into Cerney Wick. At the T junction turn left and the take the first left out of Cemey Wick. This will take you across the A419. At the T junction after crossing the A419, turn right onto Cirencester Road. Follow this road through Latton and on till the roundabout for the A419. Turn left at the roundabout and follow the roud past the Marston Meysey turn off, on the left, and on till the Castle Eaton turn off, on the right. Follow the country roads through Castle Eaton, Lushill and Hannington and on till the B4019 junction. Turn left onto the B4019 and follow this into Highworth. At the A361 junction turn right and follow this as it goes right at the roundabout and back towards Swindon. As you pass the South Marston Industrial Estate turn right at the roundabout onto Kingsdown Road, B4141. Follow the B4141 back over the A419 and on until the crossroads. Go straight across onto the B4006, Beechcroft Road and follow this as it crosses the A4311 and becomes Whitworth Road. Take the turn-off on the right into Thames Avenue. Follow Thames Avenue to the B4534 junction. Turn right onto the B4534 and back to the beginning. |
