This is an off road route, that uses pathways, canal towpaths and a grassy trail, so it is not suitable for pure road bikes. Starting from the Holloway Bank Bridge head towards Great Bridge, turn left and the route to Birmingham will be signposted all the way. The path into Birmingham is excellent, giving you a smooth ride. There's about a mile and a half stretch in Birmingham that you'll have to push the bike, due to the width of the canal path and the height of the bridges overhead, but these area's are well signposted. Once you head through central Birmingham and head towards Spaghetti Junction you'll meet the end of the nice smooth path and be met with a grassy trail all the way back. There is one place the path is only about 12-15 inches wide but that's only for a couple hundred meters, once past there the area is reletively wide. The inexperienced rider may struggle a bit once past Spaghetti but if careful you'll be fine. |

A nice easy run that I do quite regularly for a bit of fun, no real hard bits and I still haven't found anywhere where you actually need to dismount and push the bike. a nice couple of pubs on the canal in the centre of Birmingham (The Flapper and the Malt House being the 2 I use). | ||
