The route starts from Slane village. After crossing the bridge over the Boyne at Slane there is a steep climb before turning off the main road. After that it's mainly gentle hills on fairly quiet roads. Some beautiful landscape, passing by Newgrange passage tomb, Dowth burial mound and the Boyne river, as well as crossing a beautiful old bridge over the Boyne. The route is suitable for anyone - the 1st hill can be walked up if needed (on a wide hard shoulder). All of the route is on tarmac. |
