A9 from Tain to Nigg roundabout then road to Nigg Ferry, signposted. Cross on the Ferry to Cromarty with good café. Take the shore road to Balblair and continue by coast route or inland short cut via village hall and brae. Continue towards Cromarty bridge returning North. As you are back on the A9 take care with fast traffic and pull in regularly to prevent traffic queues forming. Shortly after Foulis Ferry café (excellent) there is a minor road on the left which will take you up to the 'old Evanton road', the back road between Dingwall and Evanton. Continue through Evanton and towards Alness. There is a cycle route with gravel surface not suited for road bikes but a section before Alness is tarred. After crossing the river Averon take next left towards the golf course. Then follow signs for Scotsburn and Tain | |
